You need to do this. I am a big proponent of making time to head to manufacturers’ test ride roadshows, because they afford an opportunity to ride a bike without any sales pressure. But for the opportunity to find out what electric bikes are all about you should make extra effort.

Zero will be hitting up a number of iconic biker spots over the summer, which means you can make a sort of day of it: head to a cafe, eat some artery-clogging something-or-other (although, I personally recommend the Victoria sponge at the Green Welly), find out what it’s like to ride electric, then finish the day checking out local routes on your own bike.
A lot of riders remain close-minded about electric motorcycles, but the bikes are actually a whole hell of a lot of fun. These are not the electric golf carts of your childhood, but torquey, powerful bikes that offer the joy of motorcycling in a purer form – unfettered by noise and heat and the smell/taste of toxic liquids.

“Riding a Zero is quite an experience so we’ve decided to go out and take our bikes to the people, to give them an opportunity to try one for themselves,” said Zero Motorcycles UK Country Manager Dale Robinson. “Lots of people have preconceptions about electric motorcycles but I’ve never met anyone who didn’t come back from a test ride with a smile on their face. There’s no hard sell, just an opportunity for riders to ask any questions they may have, take one out for a ride and make up their own minds on electric motorcycles.”
The Zero roadshow will be hitting up the following locations on the following dates:
June 17: Ponderosa Cafe, North Wales
June 24: Squires Cafe, North Yorkshire
June 27: Loomies Cafe, Hampshire
July 22: Otterburn Mill, Northumberland
August 18: The Biker’s Cove, Scotland
August 19: The Green Welly, Scotland
September 19: Ryka’s Cafe, Surrey
Riders wishing to try out a Zero are required to bring along their driving license and provide their own protective riding gear. Further details, including exact timings for each event, will be posted on Zero Motorcycles’ UK Facebook page.
